• GitHub Profile Data: When you connect your GitHub account, we receive your public GitHub username, display name, avatar, bio, location, and website URL.
• Public Contribution Data: We access your public GitHub activity including commits, pull requests, issues, and code reviews — all of which are already public on GitHub.
• Profile Information: Information you voluntarily provide on your ShipRank profile, such as occupation, company, social links, and products you have built.
• Usage Data: Basic analytics such as pages visited and features used, to help us improve the Service.

We use the information we collect to:

• Calculate and display your ShipRank Score and ranking
• Generate your public developer profile
• Improve and maintain the Service
• Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
• Communicate important updates about the Service
• Respond to your support requests

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

ShipRank uses GitHub OAuth to authenticate users and the GitHub API to fetch public contribution data. We access only data that is already public on GitHub. We do not request access to private repositories, private activity, or any non-public data.

We store your GitHub user ID, username, and public profile metadata to maintain your ShipRank account and calculate your score. We do not store your GitHub access token after authentication is complete.

You can revoke ShipRank's access to your GitHub account at any time through GitHub's application settings.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you disconnect your GitHub account or request deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

Aggregated, anonymized data (such as overall platform statistics) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify you.

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but this may affect your ability to use certain features of the Service, including staying signed in.

We use the following third-party services to provide the Service:

• GitHub OAuth: For secure authentication. Governed by GitHub's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase: Our backend database and authentication infrastructure, hosted in the EU/US. Governed by Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel: Our hosting provider. Governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.

These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements. We choose providers that meet industry-standard security and privacy practices.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we continuously work to protect your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
